Why focusing on substance over size?

As a farmer, you know the importance of having healthy, productive cows that produce high-quality calves.

Cows must be able to produce a healthy calf every year to ensure your financial success. The current breeding and sale system is focused on breeding bigger and bigger cattle, but this isn't always the best approach. In fact, cattle that have been pushed can have a lot of difficulties. That's why the Fedal breeding program focuses on pedigree breeding cattle that are functional and efficient - not oversized cattle that don't last long.

Choosing Simmental Fleckvieh Genetics

We do carefully select our bulls and females to ensure they have the traits that are most important to you:

Calving ease:

Bulls are preferred easy calving, which means less stress for your cows and calves, leading to healthier animals and fewer complications.

Calf-rearing ability

A mating has to result in a decent calf, a calf that will leave income and profit - making you able to justify production of the cows next calf.

Herd productivity:

Females are preferred to produce at least 1,0 calf every 12 months.

Feeding efficiency:

Feed efficiency is a key factor in your livestock production. Efficient animals reduce production costs, being the provision of feed the largest expense.

Good temperament:

Bulls and females must have a calm and docile temperament, making them easy to handle and work with.

Good conformation:

Conformation in cattle is one of the most important traits when raising a good, solid breeding herd of cattle. The skeletal and muscular structure is more important in herd bulls than in cows, however cows must also have good conformation and be in body condition in order to be productive cows that are suitable for your herd.

Breeding with common sense

Fedal Simmental take integrity to mean honesty, openness, fairness, a sense of responsibility, and loyalty.

For us, integrity provides the foundations for cooperation in a spirit of partnership and trust. It is the guarantor of long-lasting relations and profitable and sustainable simmental cattle breeding.

With a breeding program that emphasizes calving ease, fertility, milk/udder quality, performance and beef conformation, we strive for polled, sound and productive simmental cattle and genetics that fulfill the core of your farming existence.
